Located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in the beautiful Clear Creek valley and surrounded by mesas and mountains, “Howdy Folks, Welcome to Golden-Where the West Lives,” greets visitors on the large arch across Main Street in Golden, Colorado. Its charming old-Western-style buildings, Downtown Golden is a destination all its own.

Golden is known for a  wide variety of outdoor adventures, home to six museums, Coors Brewery, one of the largest brewing facilities in the world; and a downtown filled with shops and restaurants. In fact, there are nine craft beer breweries in the town, many of which are located in the historic downtown. Also, just like the Coors Brewery, most offer tours of their facilities and brewing process.

Golden is full of attractions perfect for everyone in the family. Getting Around

Golden is nestled along the Rocky Mountain foothills just 15 minutes west of Denver or 20 minutes south of Boulder or north of Littleton. Access Golden via I-70, C-470, 6th Avenue or Hwys 58 or 93.

Golden is served by the Regional Transportation District (RTD). The local bus is Route 16, the light rail is the W Line.   For RTD's schedule, please click here.

Visitors to Golden can travel from Denver and  DIA to Golden via the West Rail Line or “W” line. The West Rail Line between Golden and Denver Union Station passes through 3 fare zones. Please access RTD's fare and passes page by clicking on RTD's Fares & Passes link.

Golden can also be accessed by trail via the Regional Clear Creek trail map or the C-470 Bikeway. Cyclists can also use designated bike routes on 32nd Avenue and 44th Avenue. Golden has a designated north-south light rail bike route on Ford Street. Remember rules of the road apply to cyclists.
